Solid Waste Management District
The SEMO Solid Waste Management District awards grants to cities, counties, recycling nonprofits, and for-profit recycling entities in order to reduce the amount of waste deposited in landfills. The Department of Natural Resources oversees the program as a whole, and solid waste district works directly with sub-grantees to achieve their goals in waste reduction.

Solid Waste Management District R Projects
Deadline: Friday, August 7, 2026, @ 5 pm
Applications are now open to waste reduction and recycling projects in the Counties of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Iron, Madison, Perry, St. Francois, and Ste. Genevieve. Eligible applicants for grant funds include counties, cities, businesses, and organizations located in the District involved in waste reduction or recycling activities that complement the District’s Solid Waste Management Plan.
Completed applications must be submitted by August 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
