Transportation Planning
The SEMO RPC Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) is responsible for the prioritization of local transportation projects and needs which fuel MoDOT’s annual planning process. The Committee is comprised of local officials from each of the RPC’s seven counties. Projects are prioritized first at the county level by the County Commissioners and other local officials; the top 3 projects from each county are then submitted to the TAC, which prioritizes the 21 projects across the region. All projects from all seven counties, plus the TAC’s prioritized list of 21 projects, are then submitted to MoDOT for consideration for the upcoming State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and the High Priority Unfunded Needs List (HPUN).
In addition to the TAC, the SEMO RPC also works with MoDOT and local partners on other transportation related projects and activities, including:
- deploying traffic counters,
- maintaining the Southeast MPO’s TIP,
- developing Active Transportation Plans, and
- assisting communities with transportation-related grant applications.
